Camden Street Art ๐จ
Step back through the pages of time to the end of October when I took a little solo trot up to London, it wasn't one of those journeys for much more of a reason other than I just wanted to be out and about. I have been to Camden loads of times so, I guess for me it is not that much of a new experience getting off at Camden Station and trotting through the main drag, dodging through the hordes of shoppers on Saturday afternoon milling around by the market. For this journey I fancied hitting Camden from a different angle for change....

Hitting Camden
I hopped the London Overground heading toward Richmond and got off at Kentish Town West. From the station I headed over the road down a nice little tree lined street and bang on the corner at the end of it was my quarry and first port of call a wonderful little pub I had found online called 'Tapping The Admiral', I wasn't disappointed when I went in either, a lovely selection of beers and some super helpful friendly staff. The pub seems to have a lovely little community spirit and as it was the week before Halloween the old Victorian building was chock full of pumpkins and decorations, oldsters, younger ones and even babes in arms were there. I am glad I popped in and hope at some point to go back again.
It is surprising just how 'walkable' places are in London and Camden Town/Chalk Farm Road is only a short stroll away. From the Roundhouse at Chalk Farm Road you have a choice to go up Haverstock Hill and head toward Belsize Park and Hampstead, turn the other way and head through Camden High Street or cross over and head up the small hill and over the bridge where you hit Primrose Hill and on to Regents Park. I chose the latter, but not before I hit my next thing on the list which is just along Camden High Road at Hawley Road which contains a small cut through and has some amazing street art which I snapped and are below.
Primrose Hill & Home Again
I hopped over the road and turned up towards Primrose Hill and over the bridge which again had some fab art work. Primrose Hill is another lovely little place, lots of posh houses and nice little shops and pubs feeling a little 'village-like' and certainly more serene than Camden/Chalk Farm Road at a weekend. If you head all the way through Primrose Hill High Street you actually hit Regents Park and if you are energetic enough climb up Primrose Hill and take a look at the magic vista that is most of London if the weather is clear. It is a nice thing to do on an Autumn Day.

From there I retraced my steps and head back along Kentish Town West and onto Kentish Town High Road where I managed to pick up a 214 bus which takes you round the back doubles of Camden, Mornington Crescent onto Euston, Kings Cross, Angel and onto Shoreditch.
Dierdre Is An Artist
No idea who the artists behind the street art I saw were, but nonetheless, hat's off to them and much respect. With this in mind I move onto the musical part of this post with a band on an independent record label called The Colours with their track 'Dierdre Is An Artist'
ย
It was released on 7" single back in 1980 on the independent 'See Saw Sounds' Label. The track listing is:
- A. Dierdre Is An Artist
- B1. Over My Head
- B2. Facts Of Life
Described on Discogs.com as a kind of Rock/New Wave outfit they were:
- Vocalsย โย Simon Matthews
- Bassย โย Peter Ion
- Drumsย โย Gabby
- Guitarย โย Steve Silo
- Synthesizerย โย Gene Ohms
Have a funny feeling that some of the names might just be made up๐ค ๐
