Cockney Rejects were formed in East London in the late 70's. Fiercely working class in roots they stuck two fingers up at most of the 'art school' punks of the day. Most of their songs were about things around them in the inner cities of the day such as police harassment, football, street battles. Their 1980 song "Oi, Oi, Oi" was the inspiration for the name of the Oi!/Street Punk music genre.

This was their release on Small Wonder Records, the label based in Walthamstow that released the early material from bands such as Bauhaus (Bela Lugosi) and The Cure (Killing an Arab) before they all got signed to major labels. Cockney Rejects were no exception and were soon (after their 4th single), snapped up by EMI.
