The Eternal Scream
Eternally Screaming
'How I Wish' by UK Post Punk band Eternal Scream, released in 1981.
From Hertfordshire, as far as I can see their only other release was 'Hypocrite' a year before in 1980 on the Eternal Records label, which I can only assume was a self-financed release. The B Side 'Action In My Life' in a similar vein to 'How I Wish' i.e. fairly good early post punk in the Joy Division kind of way. The track 'Hypocrite' is quite a bit faster tempo and much more jerky, angular and punky, all well worth a listen though.
The Band Were:
- Evad (vocals)
- Lol Hammond (guitar)
- Ali (drums)
- Clive (bass)
- Caroline (bass)
...Evad? I am secretly guessing his real name might just be Dave!π
The Revenge
Evidently guitarist Lol Hammond was also in punk band The Revenge, they were based in Waltham Cross and released their first single 'Our Generation' in 1978 on the Loony Records Label. Check the link out it sounds pretty good early and basic punk to me.
They appeared to release two singles in total the second being 'We're Not Going To Take It' in the same year, they also appeared in Gig Listing for The Roxy Club and more local venues such as 'The Red Lion' in Leytonstone.
They were:
- Lol Hammond - Vocals/Guitar
- Dave Edgar - Drums/ Backing Vocals
- Ian Carter - Bass/Backing Vocals
