Nasty...
'Catch, catch a horror taxi, I fell in love with my video nasty'...
What's not to like about this!
For a start it was on one of the best comedies on the planet! (if you were a teen back in the day). The Young Ones not only had anarchic humour, but also some of the coolest bands such as the above, as well as: Motörhead, Dexys Midnight Runners, Madness, Rip Rig & Panic, Nine Below Zero, Amazulu, Ken Bishops Nice Twelve, John Otway and not forgetting that well known band 'Radical Posture' (Alexei Sayle) doing Doctor Martens Boots!
Amazulu!.... Oh is that right, well I'm a Glaswegian!
Anyway, back to Nasty, it was the B Side to Thanks for the Night released on The Damned Records label in 1984. Possibly should have been the A side?
The Young Ones punctuated all the music acts that appeared with snippets of humour. For this one the 'Driving Instructor/Vampire from Johannesburg' and when Motörhead appeared The Young Ones were catching the train to appear on 'University Challenge'. In all of the music acts that appeared both the Damned and Motörhead stand out as my favourites and were interwoven so well with the comedy.
Lemmy, warts and all, Ace Of Spades, The Young Ones
I still have the 7" Blue Vinyl of 'Thanks For The Night' lurking around somewhere at home (played to death of course!).
