Streams Of Whiskey 🥃
Something dear to my heart alcoholically 🥃 and musically 🎵, especially over the Christmas period, something that gets played in chez AKickIndieNutz whist sorting Christmas Dinner, songs that just lift the spirits (don't offend the old 'uns too much as long as they don't listen too carefully to some of the lyrics!). Just to get into the festive 'spirit'.....

The Pogues, Streams of Whiskey released on the Stiff Records Label in 1984 on the bands debut album 'Red Roses For Me'.

Catch them on 'The Session' with the track Streams Of Whiskey recorded in 1987 with guests Joe Strummer and The Dubliners, featuring a version of the Clash classic 'London Calling'.

A couple of tracks at the links above which give you the idea of their sound, I didn't know myself that a 'Dargle' is actually a day excursion or day out, we live and learn! Pretty much the whole album ranges from traditional Irish folk sounds in an either instrumental form or in the case of Streams Of Whiskey and Waxie's Dargle a kind of 'Celtic Shouty Punk Style', a fusion that clearly paid dividends for them. Lyrically The Dark Streets Of London fits in so neatly with Christmas...
"Now the winter comes down,
I can't stand the chill,
That comes to the streets around Christmas time,
And I'm buggered to damnation,
And I haven't got a penny,
To wander the dark streets of London"
Formation & Beginnings 🐣
In 1982, James Fearnley (accordion), who had been a guitarist with The Nips, joined Shane MacGowan, Spider Stacy, and Jem Finer, forming the band, then known as Pogue Mahone.

Kiss My Arse! 😘
Fiesta! 🥳
Another of my favourites, a bit of a change in style for the Pogues perhaps, but still the same anarchic upbeat 'Celtic' twang of pure madness all encapsulated in a feelgood Spanish Fiesta style mix. Completely Loco!🤪
Previous Bands
The Radiators From Space.
The band formed in 1976 in Dublin, and consisted of Philip Chevron, Pete Holidai, Steve Rapid (Steve Averill), Jimmy Crashe and Mark Megaray. They were one of the earliest punk rock bands. They signed to Chiswick Records and released the album TV Tube Heart in 1977. Their first single "Television Screen" was the first and only punk record to make the Irish top 20
Steve Averill, graphic artist and his company AMP is also known for designing all U2's album covers, whilst Phil Chevron who sadly passed away in 2013 was best known for being guitarist for the Pogues and also a record producer.
The Nips
Shane McGowan's (known at the time as 'Shane O'Hooligan') with his first band, the Nips...
The track 'All The Time In The World'
