London N8 Garage Rock

Crouch End The Church Studios

I recently took a winter visit to a place I haven't been to for at least 25 years up in North London N8 called Crouch End, I hopped the over ground train from Wanstead Park to Gospel Oak, I had to jump off at Blackhorse Road as the particular train I was on wasn't going as far as I wanted to, so I waited a couple of minutes, got the next one and jumped off at Crouch Hill station and…

Medway Garage Rock & Portsmouth Psychobilly

Thee Milshakes

Rocking that whole Kinks 'So Tired Of Waiting'/'All Day & All Of The Night' riff, The Milkshakes aka Thee Milkshakes (and many other variants) with the track 'It's You' released on their own 'Milkshakes' Record Label from 1982. Originally the band were called Dead Neighbours and were more of a post punk/psychobilly band with a sound more akin to The Cramps, although you wouldn't believe that from the track featured below! They were managed by Brian Guthrie (brother of Robin Guthrie of The Cocteau Twins) Brian persuaded Will Heggie to do some bass playing for the band after his departure from the Cocteau Twins in 1983 after…

Cursed, 13th Chime Goth Rock

13th Chime

Early Days, Antix & Formation. Another post with a mixed bag of music styles, Goth Rock, Punk and Psychobilly, and all based around this band... Originally formed in Suffolk in the early 1980's, and started out with the name The Antix, this single 'Cursed' with the B Side being 'Dug Up' was not originally on a label when it was released in 1982. This track has thunderous drums and a throbbing bass line, thrash sounding guitar in the chorus and…
